An Invincible Summer

In The Midst Of Winter, I Found There Was, Within Me, An Invincible Summer.
-Albert Camus

I couldn’t help posting more pictures from this day. The morning light was warm and strong, it almost felt like summer. The frost on the ground could have shattered the illusion, but if you don’t look at something it doesn’t exist to you right?! I used to measure my days in how much I accomplished, or how good a hair day I was having (kidding…sort of) but now I rate most days on how much sunlight I could take advantage of! After all, photography would be nothing without light :)

P.S. I was going through some old posts and I realized I can’t stop talking about summer! I’ll try to think about something else!

P.P.S I just found out that I was shortlisted for THREE Canadian Weblog awards!!! Best Art & Photography, best Fashion & Style & Design, and Best New weblog! So exciting, humbling, and rewarding! Unfortunately voting isn’t open to the public (it’s being judged by a set of jurors) but just by visiting my site you provide so much support! Thank you to everyone involved!!!! Go check out the site here!

Ceremony

I’m so inspired by other cultures; their ceremonies, weddings, fashion, daily life, I really want to experience it all. I’m so lucky to be marrying into a Hindu family where I get to experience so many amazing aspects of life that I otherwise wouldn’t know. The food is ridiculous (if you’ve ever tired Indian scrambled eggs you’ll know that the Indian spice pallet makes EVERYTHING better,) the festivals are densely colourful and meaningful, and they tend to focus on being glamorous, well dressed and surrounded by beautiful things which I truly admire! Last weekend I attended a Sikh wedding, which was all together different from a Hindu ceremony, but so amazing to be a part of!

My beautiful sari was custom-made for me and brought home from India, and the intricate yet simple leaf design just makes me fall in love every time I see it! I took these pictures a day after the wedding, and instead of wrapping it properly I hastily threw it on to catch the sunlight. Wearing it properly means the skirt would be up on my waist and it would have proper pleats to create an elegant, statuesque look. My apologies for wearing such a beautiful garmet improperly!
Much love, Alana

P.S. A very special thank you to Suman and Ritu, who spent so much time and effort finding me beautiful things to wear in India! Love
