DIY Aqua Fringe Dress

Hi friends, today I bring you one of my favourite new DIYs! I thought nothing could beat this recent DIY until today. I saw the Aqua fringe dress below and fell in love, although I wished they made it in red instead of orange. When I found a nice little red dress on sale, I knew it would be perfect to transform into this fringe masterpiece.

Tools needed:
- a dress
- a fringe curtain in a colour matching your dress
- scissors
- scotch tape
- fabric fuse
- iron

I started with a dress from Jacob, it had the wrong neckline, so I traced a new neckline and cut it out! I used fabric adhesive to seal the edge (simply because I’m too lazy to break out my sewing machine and actually hem anything!

I found this red fringe curtain on amazon. The length was double what I needed so I cut the fringe curtain in half. I sandwiched one end of the cut fringe between two pieces of tape, creating a second layer of fringe for my skirt.

I used my trust fabric fuse and an iron to secure the pieces of fringe to the existing fringe. Since the fabric fuse is double-sided and the top of the curtain was a little too wide for my waist I folded over the curtain fabric and secured it to the fabric fuse, securing and concealing the added fringe.

I added a simple clasp to the skirt with a needle and thread and voila!

This project can be as simple as you want if you find a dress that needs no altering.
If anyone tried this, send me a picture! I’d love to see!
Cheers
Alana
